Review

Deep breaths. There’s one more book to go.

Wow.

I didn’t see that one coming.

But seeing as this series never fails to surprise me, the only thing I’m not surprised is that it’s going to continue to test my abilities to withstand this amount of suspense. What’s with the book hangers?! They are killing me, but I have to say I’m not complaining.

One thing that I can say about this book is that you really get to see Adrian’s true character – to say the least. Throughout this series I always talk about how much Sydney has grown and changed, but the same goes for Adrian. Not only is he charismatic and charming, but he is also the most caring person ever. He originally was introduced as a selfish, brooding character, but he grew to be so much more than that and willing to sacrifice anything for his loved ones. And that is what makes a swoon worthy character. The fact that I only have one more book to go and knowing that

I will be finished with these characters both terrifies and excites me.

Review

These books are just a reminder of how much I enjoy reading.

It took me a while to finish this book because I had a bit of a book break (definitely one of the worst breaks to have). But after I finally got sucked into the book, I can proudly say this book break has finally ended. Richelle Mead seems to love putting her readers into an emotional rollercoaster that is so hard to come back to reality.

I am already looking forward to the next book and I can’t even imagine what I am about to go through.

Overall, my favorite thing about this book was obviously whenever Adrian and Sydney were together. They just have this amazing chemistry and are so different yet, for some reason, they understand each other so well. Back when I first met Sydney in Vampire Academy, I would have never thought about her connected with Adrian or even associating with Adrian.

But let’s talk about Adrian for a minute, he’s easily one of the most swoon worthy guys. He’s protective and mysterious but he also has that bad boy reputation that is completely different when you get to know the real him. All I can say is that I’m excited to start reading again.

Series: Bloodlines #4

Synopsis:
Sydney Sage is an Alchemist, one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the wolds of humans and vampires. They protect vampire secrets – and human lives.

In The Indigo Spell, Sydney was torn between the Alchemist way of life and what her heart and gut were telling her to do. And in one breathtaking moment that Richelle Mead fans will never forget, she made a decision that shocked even her…

But the struggle isn’t over for Sydney. As she navigates the aftermath of her life-changing decision, she still finds herself pulled in too many directions at once. Her sister Zoe has arrived, and while Sydney longs to grow closer to her, there’s still so much she must keep secret. Working with Marcus has changed the way she views the Alchemists, and Sydney must tread a careful path as she harnesses her profound magical ability to undermine the way of life she was raised to defend. Consumed by passion and vengeance, Sydney struggles to keep her secret life under wraps as the threat of exposure — and re-education — looms larger than ever.

Pulses will race throughout this smoldering fourth installment in the New York Times bestselling Bloodlines series, where no secret is safe.

Review

This series has made me decide I will not come out of my reading position until I am done with this series.

Currently, I’m frantically writing this review so I can move on to the next book because when I tell you the cliffhanger is killing me, I mean my heart is beating so fast and I can tell I am going to have a major book hangover when this series is over. But can we talk about the dual POVs in this book??? I LOVE how I got more of Adrian’s point of view and it worked out perfectly. Another thing that just makes this book even more enjoyable is the friend group. Between the Moroi, dhampirs, and Sydney it’s definitely a diverse friend group to say the least. With each book, you can see just how much closer they get and how willing they are to make sacrifices for each other. I cannot wait to see what happens in the next two books.

Sydney would love to go to college, but instead, she’s been sent into hiding at a posh boarding school in Palm Springs, California – tasked with protecting Moroi princess Jill Dragomir from assassins who want to throw the Moroi court into civil war. Formorly in disgrace, Sydney is now praised for her loyalty and obedience, and held up as the model of an exemplary Alchemist.

But the closer she grows to Jill, Eddie, and especially Adrian, the more she finds herself questioning her age-old Alchemist beliefs, her idea of family, and her sense of what it means to truly belong. Her world becomes even more complicated when magical experiments show Sydney may hold the key to prevent becoming Strigoi – the fiercest vampires, the ones who don’t die. But it’s her fear of being just that – special, magical, powerful – that scares her more than anything. Equally daunting is her new romance with Braydon, a cute, brainy guy who seems to be her match in every way. Yet, as perfect as he seems, Sydney finds herself being drawn to someone else – someone forbidden to her.

When a shocking secret threatens to tear the vampire world apart, Sydney’s loyalties are suddenly tested more than ever before. She wonders how she’s supposed to strike a balance between the principles and dogmas she’s been taught, and what her instincts are now telling her.

Reading Recs: Favorite Forbidden Romances

Forbidden Romances are one of my all-time favorite tropes. I don’t know what the “official” definition of a Forbidden Romance is (or if there even is one – I’m too lazy to look it up), but I consider any book in which the main character’s love interest is someone that he or she should not be involved with for any given reason.

The books I’m listing below are a few of my favorites in this category. They’re filled with the longing, intensity, and excitement you’d expect from forbidden love stories.

The genres run the gamut: contemporary romance, fantasy, dark romance, paranormal romance… everything from age gaps to body guards to dueling mystical creatures to supernatural interspecies to teachers and students to religion … it’s quite the mix!

So, without further ado…
