Favorite Romance Novels of 2017

Oh. My. Goodness.

This year has been such an epic reading year for me. Not necessarily in the amount of books I’ve read, but more in that I discovered so freaking many amazing books and authors all in one year!

My Goodreads goal this year was 100 books and I completed that goal just in time this month. Now, I’m off re-reading all the books I’ve become obsessed with thanks to this goal.

2017 was the year I discovered auto-buy authors like Mariana Zapata, Rainbow Rowell, Laura Kaye, Jay Crownover, Helena Hunting, Sierra Simone, Sally Thorne, Lauren Rowe, and Penny Reid. I know, RIGHT?!

I also discovered a few series that I burned through in a matter of days, characters and stories that have stuck with me, oh, and I wrote and published a novel that I love, too!

These are my absolute favorite romance reads of 2017

The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue

Goodreads synopsis:

Henry “Monty” Montague was born and bred to be a gentleman, but he was never one to be tamed. The finest boarding schools in England and the constant disapproval of his father haven’t been able to curb any of his roguish passions—not for gambling halls, late nights spent with a bottle of spirits, or waking up in the arms of women or men.

But as Monty embarks on his Grand Tour of Europe, his quest for a life filled with pleasure and vice is in danger of coming to an end. Not only does his father expect him to take over the family’s estate upon his return, but Monty is also nursing an impossible crush on his best friend and traveling companion, Percy.

Still it isn’t in Monty’s nature to give up. Even with his younger sister, Felicity, in tow, he vows to make this yearlong escapade one last hedonistic hurrah and flirt with Percy from Paris to Rome. But when one of Monty’s reckless decisions turns their trip abroad into a harrowing manhunt that spans across Europe, it calls into question everything he knows, including his relationship with the boy he adores.

Review

And, so, it appears I have a new book to add to my favorites list and it has everything to do with my obsessive love with the main character, Monty. While I enjoyed the story, it is Monty’s character and his charming, hilarious cluelessness that made me fall in love with the story. Pair that with the strong supporting characters and this book makes it to my Top 5 list!

Book Haul 08.07.17 [Library Bookstore, eBooks, & Audiobooks]

book-haul

Ok, I am seriously trying not to load my Kindle up with so many free ebooks, and if you’ve seen my past hauls, you’ll notice this week’s haul is significantly less than others. At least, as far as ebooks go.

I immediately made up for that by perusing my local library’s bookstore and picking up a ton of books. In my defense, I also donated a big reusable bag full of books that I knew I wasn’t ever going to get around to reading. My hard copy TBR shelf is overflowing once again, though.

If a room without books is a room without a soul, then my house has so many souls it’s basically a cemetery.

That came out way more morbid than I intended.

Anyway, onward to last week’s haul!

To Be Read ASAP List (July 2017)

tbr-asap

In putting together this list of books, I soon realized that this list is far too long for my comfort level. What I’m showing here is only a fraction of my full To Be Read As Soon As Possible list… which is only a fraction of my To Be Read list.

Le sigh.

In any case, most of these books I have not purchased yet. Books that make the cut on the particular list are books that have come highly recommended by multiple sources, are ARCs, or they are books written by authors who will be attending the Readers & Writers event in Tampa next month.
