Book Haul | Book Outlet, BooksaMillion, Paperback Exchange + New Video

Hello, hello booklovers!

I’m back with another amazing book haul.

I feel like you can tell when I’m stressed out because I end up hauling a lot of books. I tend to go to bookstores as relaxation, and bargain shopping for books makes me super happy.

Anyway, here are a bunch of books that I hauled from Book Outlet, Books-a-Million, The Paperback Exchange, and, of course, hand-me-downs from my mom.

If you’d like to watch the video of me talking about why I picked up the books and explaining (horribly) the synopses of the books, you can check out the video here:

Otherwise, read on my friends!

It once seemed so easy to Prince Rhen, the heir to Emberfall. Cursed by a powerful enchantress to repeat the autumn of his eighteenth year over and over, he knew he could be saved if a girl fell for him. But that was before he learned that at the end of each autumn, he would turn into a vicious beast hell-bent on destruction. That was before he destroyed his castle, his family, and every last shred of hope.

Nothing has ever been easy for Harper Lacy. With her father long gone, her mother dying, and her brother barely holding their family together while constantly underestimating her because of her cerebral palsy, she learned to be tough enough to survive. Break the curse, save the kingdom.

A prince? A monster? A curse? Harper doesn’t know where she is or what to believe. But as she spends time with Rhen in this enchanted land, she begins to understand what’s at stake. Alex and Eliza by Melissa De La Cruz

Their romance shaped a nation. The rest was history.

1777. Albany, New York.

As battle cries of the American Revolution echo in the distance, servants flutter about preparing for one of New York society’s biggest events: the Schuylers’ grand ball. Descended from two of the oldest and most distinguished bloodlines in New York, the Schuylers are proud to be one of their fledgling country’s founding families, and even prouder still of their three daughters—Angelica, with her razor-sharp wit; Peggy, with her dazzling looks; and Eliza, whose beauty and charm rival that of both her sisters, though she’d rather be aiding the colonists’ cause than dressing up for some silly ball.

Still, she can barely contain her excitement when she hears of the arrival of one Alexander Hamilton, a mysterious, rakish young colonel and General George Washington’s right-hand man. Though Alex has arrived as the bearer of bad news for the Schuylers, he can’t believe his luck—as an orphan, and a bastard one at that—to be in such esteemed company. And when Alex and Eliza meet that fateful night, so begins an epic love story that would forever change the course of American history.

Everyone’s a Aliebn When Ur a Aliebn Too by Jomny Sun

The illustrated story of a lonely alien sent to observe Earth, where he meets all sorts of creatures with all sorts of perspectives on life, love, and happiness, while learning to feel a little better about himself—based on the enormously popular Twitter account.

Here is the unforgettable story of Jomny, an alien sent to study Earth. Always feeling apart, even among his species, Jomny feels at home for the first time among the earthlings he meets. There is a bear tired of other creatures running in fear, an egg struggling to decide what to hatch into, a turtle hiding itself by learning camouflage, a puppy struggling to express its true feelings, and many more.

The characters are unique and inventive—bees think long and hard about what love means, birds try to eat the sun, nothingness questions its own existence, a ghost comes to terms with dying, and an introverted hedgehog slowly lets Jomny see its artistic insecurities. At the same time, Jomny’s curious presence allows these characters to open up to him in ways they were never able to before, revealing the power of somebody who is just there to listen.

Everyone’s a Aliebn When Ur a Aliebn Too is also the story behind the widely-shared and typo-filled @jonnysun twitter account. Since the beginning, Sun intentionally tweeted from an outsider’s perspective, creating a truly distinct voice. Now, that outsider has taken shape in the character of Jomny, who observes Earth with the same intelligent, empathetic, and charmingly naïve voice that won over his fans on social media. New fans will find it organic, and old fans will delight at seeing the clever words that made them fans in the first place.

Through this story of a lost, lonely and confused Alien finding friendship, acceptance, and love among the animals and plants of Earth, we will all learn how to be a little more human. And for all the earth-bound creatures here on this planet, we will all learn how sometimes, it takes an outsider to help us see ourselves for who we truly are.

Megan Mead’s Guide to the McGowan Boys

When she was nine, Megan Meade met a group of terrible, mean, Popsicle-goo-covered boys, the sons of her father’s friend — the McGowan boys. Now, seven years later, Megan’s army doctor parents are shipping off to Korea and Megan is being sent to live with the little monsters, who are older now and quite different than she remembered them.
Living in a house with seven boys will give Megan, who has never even been kissed, the perfect opportunity to learn everything there is to know about boys. And she’ll send all her notes to her best friend, Tracy, in…

Megan Meade’s Guide to the McGowan Boys

Observation #1: Being an army brat sucks. Except that this is definitely a better alternative to moving to Korea.
Observation #2: Forget evil, laughing, little monsters. These guys have been touched by the Abercrombie gods. They are a blur of toned, suntanned perfection.

Observation #3: I need a lock on my door. STAT.

Observation #4: Three words: six-pack abs.

Observation #5: Do not even get me started on the state of the bathroom. I’m thinking of calling in a hazmat team. Seriously.

Observation #6: These boys know how to make enemies. Big time.

Megan Meade will have to juggle a new school, a new family, a new crush — on the boy next door, as in next bedroom door — and a new life. Will she survive the McGowan boys?

Giant Book Haul: Book Outlet, Books-a-Million, Paperback Exchange, Thriftbooks

Clearly my mission to fill up my new bookshelves plus the discovery of a used bookstore near me has impacted my book-buying habits!

I filmed and posted my Book Haul video for Booktube a couple of weeks ago, but I’ve been putting off taking photos of the books since then, however, I finally was able to take the photos, so I’m able to share with you all the glorious books I purchased over the past several weeks!

If you’d like to watch the video, you can do so here:

If you’d rather just scroll through and see the synopses for the books, keep on reading!

Book Haul: Barnes & Noble, Books-a-Million, & Indie Bookstore + {NEW VIDEO}

I had the most therapeutic retail therapy last Friday as I made my way home from staying with my parents while my dad had his heart surgery. (Thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers <3).

I ended up having a giant anxiety attack when I got home Friday night anyway, which wasn’t entirely surprising considering how anxious I was last week before the surgery, however, I did have a very nice time shopping that afternoon before everything kind of came crashing down on me all at once.

Sorry to be such a downer in the beginning of this post, let’s move on to brighter topics like ALL THE AMAZING BOOKS I GOT!

It’s been so long since I bought brand new books, it was such a treat! Yay for my mom letting me use her Barnes and Noble membership and me getting my own Books-a-Million membership (Dear BAM, please don’t go out of business.) Also Yay for me finding an AMAZING indie bookstore that has Drag Queen Story Time. I found more amazing books there than I did at the other stores.

If you want more in-depth info about these picks, feel free to watch my corresponding video:

Book Haul: May 2018

It’s been a slow blogging month for me. I’ve been absent from the internet altogether for a couple weeks now and I’m actually pretty happy about it. It’s been nice to go to bed early with a book every night without browsing the internet or feeling obligated to do anything outside of work.

Sometimes it’s nice to take a little break without guilt. (Even if the “without guilt” part takes a little work when you love your blogging community and want to read and respond to #alltheposts.)

Anyway, it wasn’t a slow book-buying month! (Honestly, I don’t know if it ever really is.)

White Knight by CD Reiss

Catherine Barrington is a rich girl. Chris Cartwright is a poor boy.
He left her to make something of himself. A man she could be proud of. A man she could bring home to her parents. A man she could marry.
On the trading floor he became the man he knew he could be. Now, it’s time to return.
Rich girl.
Poor boy.
She didn’t care about his money, but he didn’t believe her. Soon after he left, all the money was gone.
Her life is hell.
Now he’s back, and he’s different. Pristine. Gorgeous. Rich.
Rich boy.
Poor girl.
Money was never the barrier, until now.

After reading my friend CD Reiss, King of Code, I’ve been obsessed with her books, particularly these characters and their intertwined stories.

Prince Charming by CD Reiss
34507164

Keaton Bridge is exactly the kind of guy a straight-arrow like Cassie doesn’t need.

For one thing, he’s a criminal—and she fights crime for a living. And being criminally handsome isn’t helping her say no, either. Everything about him screams trouble, from his British accent to his mysterious past.

And Cassie doesn’t do trouble.

Keaton’s got his own trouble. He’s trying to go legit, and an FBI agent hanging around is the last thing that will help his credibility. All it took was one night of passion to sear her into his skin. Now he can’t imagine living happily ever after without her.

All they have to do is walk away.

But neither of them ever walks away from danger.

From Lukov with Love by Mariana Zapata

If someone were to ask Jasmine Santos to describe the last few years of her life with a single word, it would definitely be a four-letter one.

After seventeen years—and countless broken bones and broken promises—she knows her window to compete in figure skating is coming to a close.

But when the offer of a lifetime comes in from an arrogant idiot she’s spent the last decade dreaming about pushing in the way of a moving bus, Jasmine might have to reconsider everything.

Including Ivan Lukov.

I’ve already read the eBook, but I’ve been dying to re-read the audiobook! I bought it as soon as it came out.

Swallow Me Whole: A Friends To Lovers Romance by Gemma James
39324700

Sadie Sawyer wants to learn how to blow a guy. She’s my sister’s best friend. The girl I’ve known since grade school. The girl I’ve always considered off-limits. She’s the girl that crawled under a table in a bar one night and changed everything between us.

Now the brain in my pants is more than willing to step up. The rules are simple.

No kissing.
No screwing.
No falling in love.

But the more I let her use my body in the name of experimentation, the more I know being friends isn’t enough. Is it too much to want it all with her?

The taste of her lips.
The sweetness of her innocence.
The chance to earn her love.

I might have a real shot with her…if her douchebag ex and my past don’t ruin everything.

Book Haul April 2018

It’s the end of April… and you know what that means…
