Happy Saturday, book lovers! I hope your Saturday has been as lovely as mine so far.
I stayed in bed far later that I normally do (8am), just lounging around, checking social media and catching up on my timelines before getting up and making breakfast for the family. Then I was able to take some photos for Bookstagram and get some bookish content planned and scheduled.
The girls wanted to play outside in the front yard and since it is crazy hot around here (88 degrees and sunny), I decided to be that person and change into my bathing suit to sunbath a bit while the girls played and my husband fixed up the flowerbeds in the front yard. After that we all jumped in the pool for a little while.
And now, here I am, trying to figure out what I want to read this month.
Even though I’m a moody reader, I find it really helpful to have a TBR to reference for when I finish a book and am not sure what to reach for next.
This month there are no readathons that I’m planning to participate in, which means I can start reading my very first Secret TBR that I’m hoping to do for a video. I’m SUPER excited about it, but it still likely take me longer than a month to read all the books – they’re all physical books I had on my shelves.
My April TBR
By the Book by Amanda Sellet
I’m super picky about ARCs, and this one caught my attention not only because of the adorbs cover, but because it’s a romance with a bookish MC who puts together a Scoundrel Survival Guide for her peers so they can avoid heartbreak.
Goodreads
Beach Read by Emily Henry
I’ve seen a bunch of people reading and loving this book! I mean, it’s called Beach Read, and I’m so ready for some lounging on the beach with a good book!
Goodreads
The Highwayman (Victorian Rebels #1) by Kerrigan Byrne
*Available on Audible Escape
I will be continuing my historical romance journey with a book that has been recommended to me several times. I don’t know much about it aside from the fact that the romance is supposed to be SO good.
Goodreads
Point of Retreat (Slammed #2) by Colleen Hoover
*Available on Audible Escape
I read the first book, Slammed, a couple of months ago and though it wasn’t my favorite CoHo book, I still enjoyed it. And since this has been sitting in my Audible library for a while and I want to read #allthecohobooks, I think I’ll pick it up this month. It should be a nice palette cleanser. It’s only 6 hours. Also… spoken word poetry and romance? Yes, please.
Goodreads
Menace (Scarlet Scars #1) by J.M. Darhower
*Available on Audible Escape
I’m all about a scarred/damaged bad boy hero.
Goodreads
Art & Soul by Brittainy C. Cherry
*Available on Audible Escape
I will be continuing my journey of reading all of BCC’s books. I don’t know what this is about and I don’t need to. All I need to know is BCC write it and I’m reading it.
Goodreads
Misconduct by Penelope Douglas
*Available on Audible Escape
I just hauled the physical book from Book Outlet. I believe this one is a teacher/parent romance.
Goodreads
Starry Eyes by Jenn Bennett
*Available on Audible Escape
I’ve only read one book by Jenn Bennett and I absolutely loved it. I believe this is a friends to enemies to lovers romance where camping is involved – and potentially forced togetherness.
Goodreads
The Year We Fell Down (The Ivy Years #1) by Sarina Bowen
*Available on Audible Escape
Sarina Bowen is another author I want to read her entire backlist. Since this one is available on Escape, I think I’ll try to get to it this month. It looks like a New Adult/College Romance that is part of a series.
Goodreads
The Summer I Turned Pretty (Summer #1) by Jenny Han
*Available on Audible Escape
I have the physical copy of this as well. My niece and fellow blogger loved this series and since I’m a hardcore fan of To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, I think I’ll give this series a shot.
Goodreads
Fighting for Everything (Warrior Fight Club #1) by Laura Kaye
*Available on Audible Escape
We all know how obsessed I am with the Hearts in Darkness Duet by this author, I’m hoping I can hit gold with another one of her books/series. This one looks like an MMA or boxing romance.
Goodreads
The Summer I Turned Pretty trilogy was the first book I read by this author and I’d have to say I enjoyed it more than To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before which is a very unpopular opinion because the people I see talking about The Summer trilogy don’t actually like it.
