TeaChat: Beautiful Voices & Boring Food

For those of you who are new around here, TeaChats are a monthly post that I do in which I pretend that you and I are going out and grabbing a cup of tea (or coffee or wine) and we’re chatting about what we’ve been up to lately.

Let’s chat!

As you may or may not know from this post and this post, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in November. It’s been a rocky few weeks since then, but I did have a fantastic Thanksgiving break in which I read a bunch of short books from my bookshelf. I also participated in a self-imposed Goodreads Reader’s Choice Awards Romance Nominees Challenge in which I read all the books that were nominated in the Romance category.

Anyway… onward to the usual TeaChat updates:

At Present I Am…

Blood Water Paint by Joy McCullough | Marriage for One by Ella Maise

I’m listening to Marriage for One on audio (it’s free on Audible Escape!) and I just started reading Blood Water Paint.

Glee and MindHunter because of my freakish obsession with Jonathan Groff and his beautiful speaking voice (and singing voice).

I’m not a huge TV-watcher, but since my obsession spiked recently, I decided to go back and re-watch Glee. My husband and I have been slowly watching MindHunter as well and I love it!

The most boring food on the planet because of my Autoimmune Paleo diet. It’s extremely restricting. But, I have to say, I do love these That’s It bars, because I can actually eat them and they’re basically the only convenient food I can eat these days!

Listening to

I’m so obsessed with this song from Hamilton for obvious reasons:

Obsessing over

This man’s beautiful speaking and singing voice.

I feel like this interview appropriately shows off his speaking voice because the sound quality is so good.

What’s Next

I have three weeks of craziness at work before my winter break. Not that I’m counting or anything…

But before that, I’m planning on posting my End of the Year reading list here on the blog and filming a video for BookTube to go along with it. I also am spending Friday to Saturday on the beach in a condo with a friend of mine, and then having a little beach day all day Saturday with some old coworkers who I miss so much! I’m planning on doing my friend’s hair and makeup and taking some pictures of her at the beach because I’ve decided everyone needs to have some beautiful pictures of themselves for a little confidence boost. Also – I love doing hair and makeup on my friends.

Next week I’ll be reading Merry Inkmas with the Dragons and Tea Book Club and I also plan on reading all the Goodreads Choice Award winners as a little challenge for myself. I’ll be vlogging during this whole thing, so I’ll likely break it up between two vlogs.

Then, I’m planning on vlogging during my Winter Break as I try to read #allthebooks and reach my Goodreads goal for one last push!

As for my personal life, I have a bunch of Dr appointments (as expected), Kayla – my blogging buddy and niece – has her 16th birthday on the 18th (pop onto one of her blog posts and wish her a happy birthday if you have a chance!) and her party is on the 14th. I’m going to a local downtown event near my brother’s new place and then a Christmas party with him and my coworker on the 20th. My sister’s birthday is Christmas Eve, and I’m so excited to give her her gifts! I’m sure my family will celebrate on Christmas and then on a day either before or after since my siblings have to hang with their in-laws as well.

And I think that’s about it for my December! I hope you have a beautiful month ❤

Tell me… what have you been up to lately? What’s up next?

  1. The cover for Marriage for One is delish! I need to look into getting that!

We are looking forward to Christmas but have so much on that my head is already spinning! Its mine and my sons first Christmas with celiac disease do we are trying to find the food we normally had but in a gluten free version! Also my son is anemic and its kicking his butt so am concentrating on getting him better!

    1. OMG I just finished Marriage for One and it was SO good! Very unexpected! Pretty sure it’s free on Kindle Unlimited and it is part of the Audible Escape package.

    2. OMG, my dear friend… I am on the AIP diet (autoimmune protocol) because of my MS and Thanksgiving was the hardest thing ever. It took a lot of effort not to be sad and to focus on the happiness of the holiday – my family time – and not on all the yummy food I was missing out on.

AIP eliminates ALL grains, sugar, gluten, soy, dairy, legumes, beans, processed food, nightshade vegetables… and everything I eat has to be organic/free-range/wild/grass-fed/nitrate-free/antibiotic-free (ie expensive)

It’s extremely restricting and I miss so many foods (it’s also very hard to find convienient food since nothing can be processed or have any additives.)

I will say this… I feel really good (aside from my MS side effects). And it’ll be worth it, I promise!

      1. Omg that is a lot of stuff to restrict but so glad you feel good. Gluten free food is just so expensive so I’ve gone back to eating meat and vegetables and it’s amazing how good it does make you feel!

Onwards and upwards, that’s what I keep telling myself!!!
