Title: Dreams of Gods and Monsters
Author: Laini Taylor
Series: Daughter of Smoke & Bone #3

Two worlds are poised on the brink of a vicious war. By way of a staggering deception, Karou has taken control of the chimaera’s rebellion and is intent on steering its course away from dead-end vengeance. The future rests on her.

When the brutal angel emperor brings his army to the human world, Karou and Akiva are finally reunited – not in love, but in a tentative alliance against their common enemy. It is a twisted version of their long-ago dream, and they begin to hope that it might forge a way forward for their people. And, perhaps, for themselves.

But with even bigger threats on the horizon, are Karou and Akiva strong enough to stand among the gods and monsters?

The New York Times bestselling Daughter of Smoke & Bone trilogy comes to a stunning conclusion as – from the streets of Rome to the caves of the Kirin and beyond – humans, chimaera, and seraphim strive, love, and die in an epic theater that transcends good and evil, right and wrong, friend and enemy.

Let’s just say: wow.

This story was A LOT!

I felt like from the very first chapter I was immediately intrigued and each chapter after started and ended strongly and intense. Again, I am reminded how much I love Zuzana and her relationship with Karou. I feel like their friendship is something everyone strives for and I love how even though she is not familiar with Karou’s world, she will do anything to make her laugh because she knows that is the one things she knows she can definitely do.

Also, Zuzana always has such a fun dialog that never fails to make me laugh and Mik complements her perfectly. During this story, it really showed the power and honesty with falling in love because many of the characters had this great, intense, undying love that showed how they truly fell in love with the person and not the ‘vessel’ or body they were in.

Each character had an amazing touch to the story that made it that much brighter. It blows my mind how Laini Taylor even came up with the story because there were so many different aspects to the story and world building beyond belief.

There was definitely a lot going on in this story that had so many powerful elements which is one of the reasons why it took me so long to finish. It was a lot to take in with trying to understand the world and what was happening and who was doing what, but I really did enjoy this book.

This series is something that I have never read before and anyone who reads this is in for an adventure.
