Title: Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating
Author: Christina Lauren
Format: Audiobook purchased from Audible
Synopsis:
Hazel Camille Bradford knows she’s a lot to take—and frankly, most men aren’t up to the challenge. If her army of pets and thrill for the absurd don’t send them running, her lack of filter means she’ll say exactly the wrong thing in a delicate moment. Their loss. She’s a good soul in search of honest fun.
Josh Im has known Hazel since college, where her zany playfulness proved completely incompatible with his mellow restraint. From the first night they met—when she gracelessly threw up on his shoes—to when she sent him an unintelligible email while in a post-surgical haze, Josh has always thought of Hazel more as a spectacle than a peer. But now, ten years later, after a cheating girlfriend has turned his life upside down, going out with Hazel is a breath of fresh air.
Not that Josh and Hazel date. At least, not each other. Because setting each other up on progressively terrible double blind dates means there’s nothing between them…right?
Review
I knew I had to read this book when Sally Thorne, the author of The Hating Game, couldn’t stop gushing about it.
So, as soon as I got my Audible credit, I downloaded this book. I read it in about two days and enjoyed every second of it.
There was nothing particularly exceptional about the book, plot, or characters aside from the utter adorableness. It was exactly the type of book that I needed: something light and sweet and easy to read.
While I didn’t think the characters were exceptional, please don’t mistake that for me saying that I didn’t think they were great, because that’s absolutely not the case. I LOVED Josh and Hazel.
I always appreciate a good quirky character, and Hazel absolutely did not disappoint. She reminded me a lot of Violet from Pucked, so if you loved her – you will adore Hazel.
I like to think of this kind of book as a palate cleanser if you’ve been reading intense books or if you’re in a book slump and want something you’re pretty much guaranteed to like.

I feel like I’m always the wacky one in relationships with restrained guys. It’s special when you find someone who appreciated your nuttiness. Sounds like I would like this (and relate to it a bit). Once I finish gorging on Song of Ice and Fire books (or maybe once I finish chewing through the one I’m in the middle of, this would be a nice, as you put it, ‘palette cleanser’ 😀 Yay for spring reading!

It’s not my favorite Christina Lauren novel, but it’s definitely one of their better ones! Autoboyography was my favorite from these authors 🙂
