TeaChat: Parfaits & Panic Attacks

For those of you who are new around here, TeaChats are a monthly post that I do in which I pretend that you and I are going out and grabbing a cup of tea (or coffee or wine) and we’re chatting about what we’ve been up to lately.

Let’s chat!

Thank you again to everyone’s well wishes for my dad and your compliments on my poem for him. He got through the surgery well and even though it was really hard see him in pain during recovery, he’s back to his normal exercising. We won’t know if the procedure worked for a couple months (it takes 90 days to know for sure), but fingers crossed it worked. He’s been occupied reading all of Mariana Zapata’s books and his cowboy romances (LOL!)

February was a bit of a rough month for me, between worrying about my dad, the girls getting sick for DAYS, and work being absolutely insane, my anxiety levels were sky-rocketing and I’m still coming down from it. Anytime I have a huge panic attack like I did a few weeks ago, it’s always followed up by several mini ones… kind of like aftershocks.

I know this part of the rollercoaster will ebb soon, so I’m trying not to worry about it or let it control my life too much.

Otherwise, in the reading-world it’s been fantastic! I had a great reading month despite the craziness!

Anyway… onward to the usual TeaChat updates:

At Present I Am…

Reading

51zurycmw1l._sl500_
Stalking Jack the Ripper (Stalking Jack the Ripper #1) by Kerri Maniscalco and I am SO invested, you guys. I’m absolutely living for this book just as I suspected I would!

I also am about 2 pages in to Circe by Madeline Miller , so I don’t really have any thoughts about that one quite yet!

Watching

All the BookTube in all the world.

On the rare occasion I actually am watching something instead of reading, it’s BookTube.

This is doing bad things to my TBR shelf.

Consuming

I’m weirdly obsessed with Panera’s parfaits. Like… I even called them to find out what yogurt they used because it’s the most glorious greek yogurt of my life. Unfortunately it’s the brand Brown Cow which isn’t available at my local grocery store and while I’d love to make my own parfaits, I NEED that yogurt to do it right!

Listening to

For some reason this is the song my daughters and I are obsessed with right now. I have no idea how this happened.

Obsessing over

Going book shopping, which is extraordinarily terrible to my wallet. I’m just obsessed with spending at least a few hours each weekend at the bookstore. It’s so relaxing and fulfilling and my wallet hates me.

What’s Next

This weekend we are taking Roree to see Captain Marvel. Violet still gets a little too antsy to sit through a movie, so we’ll probably need to get a babysitter for her.

Tomorrow my 6yo is cheering at her first game (it’s the faculty vs student game and they are doing the halftime performance) I can’t freaking wait to see her out there. She’s so excited. It’s going to be adorable.

I have a manicure date with my niece tomorrow as well, my daughter is in her first musical production next week, I’m seeing Five Feet Apart AS SOON AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE and will likely drag my favorite romantic movie buddy with me, I’m getting my hair dyed, I’ve got a book club meeting to talk about The Beast’s Heart, and then at the end of the month I have a few days off during the girls’ Spring Break.

Lots to look forward to!

Tell me… what have you been up to lately? What’s up next?

  1. Hoping your dad has a speedy recovery! I’m not on here much, so I missed it but I’ll be keeping him in my thoughts and prayers! ❤️ What a not so fun month though! That’s a lot of stress, no wonder it’s brought in panic attacks! Hoping for a much less stressful month for you! Sounds like you have a lot of exciting things to look forward too! I hope Captain Marvel is amazing! I won’t be able to see it until next month, when I hit 32 weeks.

This month… will pretty much be the same for me. Just laying in bed. Haha. I did hit 28 weeks this week and now will go back to my regular OB! Praying, that I don’t go into labor before 32 weeks. For many reasons, but then I won’t have to go to the hospital an hour away! Having him in the NICU that far away, will be tough. I do have my baby shower at the end of the month! Hoping to make it there pregnant! ❤️

  2. I hope everything with your dad goes well! (And I still can’t believe he reads cowboy romances ❤ ) I have never had the parfaits at panera but I will check them out! We have one right by my work 🙂 It sounds like your coming month will be super busy but in a good way 🙂 lots of family activities!

  4. Happy thoughts to your dad. I hope all goes well.

For me: My good friend and I had a long talk yesterday. Her son has Hodgkin lymphoma – type 2. He begins treatment today. He’s 30 years old and for the next six months life will be different.

I’m still rehabing my knee. Not sure if the operation worked or not but I’m not going to let a knee change my ways.

And finally: Book 2/draft 1 is about 20,000 words deep.

Cool song by the way. 🙂
