It’s Valentine’s Day and as a mostly romance focused book blog, I knew I had to do something particularly special. I thought about listing my favorite romance novels, but that’s opening a can of worms. Plus, I already listed some of my favorite YA Contemporary Romance Novels and Adult Contemporary Romance novels recently, so I thought to myself…
Enough with the LOVE… let’s talk about LUST for Valentine’s Day.
Ok, so these are all romance novels and with the lust there is also plenty of love. You’ll notice I have very, very few erotic romance novels on this list. That’s because reading straight erotica does nothing for me. I need a swoony back story. I need to love the couple and their journey to be truly invested in their steamy scenes.
Below is a list of my favorite steamy scenes and the books in which they belong.
BEWARE OF SOME POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD!
How to Date Your Dragon (Mystic Bayou #1) by Molly Harper
OK, hear me out. I know how this sounds… A dragon book listed under my favorite sexy scenes? Talk about STEAMY! (I’m sorry, that was incredibly corny, and I 98% regret making that joke.) Anyway, there was something about this scene that gave me all kinds of butterflies. Maybe it’s the hate to love, maybe it’s because they were in a room full of pillows, maybe it’s because he literally made her glow… more than likely it was a combination of all of those things. This was such a great read in general and the steamy scenes in it were so swoon-worthy.
A Girl Like Her (Ravenswood #1) by Talia Hibbert
Ruth is on the spectrum, so her first intimate scene with Evan is full of so much sweetness because of how thoughtful and attentive Evan is! He’s so attuned to her and her discomfort, and he’s understanding a patient. It was such a beautiful scene to read.
Shift (Shifters #5) by Rachel Vincent
OMG you guys, there is some super intense revenge sex happening in this book! It begins with Faythe confessing that she can’t remember what her ex’s touch is like because he refuses to touch her since their breakup. Then all of a sudden they’re unexpectedly up against a wall, she’s shed of all her clothing, he’s only unbuttoned his pants and as he walks away with four simple words, “Maybe now you’ll remember.” Daayyyyuuummmmmm.
Birthday Girl by Penelope Douglas
It’s very likely this made the list because the slow burn buildup is so excruciating that it’s a freaking relief when you finally reach the first steamy scene … pair that with the fantastic writing and you have yourself a breathlessly long-awaited scene for the record books.
With Visions of Red by Trisha Wolfe
When you pair lyrical and vivid writing with extraordinary passion and incredible darkness like Trisha Wolfe is known for, it is no surprise that her steamy scenes are a favorite. All the steamy scenes in this series are epic, I mean, we have a shibari expert as a Hero, what do you expect? Let me just say that this scene starts with some incredibly intimate and mind-bending shibari and ends with her being slowly lowered down from her harness … directly onto him.
Ball Peen Hammer by Lauren Rowe
I mean… Keane can dance Magic Mike style… what more do I need to say?
American Queen (New Camelot Trilogy #1) by Sierra Simone
If you’re looking for the best MMF steamy scenes possible… this series is absolutely your go-to. Unlike a lot of erotic romance novels, Sierra’s writing is gorgeous and her storytelling is just as good. There is no sacrifice of quality for the sake of steam.
Priest (Priest #1) by Sierra Simone
Get out your fans, friends, because I assure you that you will be unprepared for the steam in this book! (In the best way)
Love in the Light (Hearts in Darkness #2) by Laura Kaye
I can’t pinpoint what it is exactly about the steamy scene in this book, but it’s definitely a favorite of mine. I think it mostly has to do with how much I just adore Caden, he has my whole heart and this scene is so lusty, but also so full of love. It’s an intoxicating combination.
Blurred Lines by Lauren Layne
Along with being my all-time favorite friends-to-lovers romance, the steamy scene in this one was so fun and sweet. I loved the familiarity of this couple because of their long-time friendship paired with the newness of their more intimate relationship.
Lover Awakened (Black Dagger Brotherhood #3) by JR Ward
Whew! Honestly, the back story in this one makes the steamy scenes so much better. There is also something about the extreme denial of intense desire for the sake of affection that got me.
The Hating Game by Sally Thorne
This super slow burn hate-to-love story lives up to the moment we all wait impatiently for in the end. There is something about Joshua finally losing control that makes it so glorious.
A Court of Mist and Fury (A Court of Thorns and Roses #2) by Sarah J Maas
I mean… how could this not be on my list? This is my OTP right here and I felt like I wait so very long for the steam!
Outlander (Outlander #1) by Diana Gabaldon
I mean… you don’t get many tropes in which the guy is a virgin and after reading the steamy scene in this one… I’m thinking there should be more.
Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover
All I have to say is the creative use of all one’s senses in this one, plus the build-up, plus the epic sweetness is just so, so good.
I think Outlander – the book – has fewer scenes than the tv series!
Plus, Sam and Catriona are amazing together and they make the perfect tv pair!
Loved the list

It’s so true! Outlander is one of those rare books where the TV show is actually just as good as the books IMO!

Sinner is definitely one of those books that has really steamy scenes. I love it! One of my favorite books that has my favorite steamy scene was from Raw: Rebirth by Belle Aurora. 🙂
