The End of the Year Book Tag: 2018 Edition

2019 is coming up fast and last year I saw this tag going around and never ended up doing it. This year when I saw it over on Kelly’s blog, I decided I’d go ahead and do it now.

Are there any books you started this year that you need to finish?

I’m pretty picky about finishing books. If I’m not feeling it by the first few chapters, I tend to set them aside. I have way too many books I want to read, I just don’t have it in me to struggle through books that aren’t for me. This doesn’t mean I won’t give them another try or that I think they’re horrible, most of the time I’m just not in the mood. The books I didn’t read this year were:
xo, Zach by Kendall Ryan – This was just feeling kind of bland to me at the time. To be fair, I was in a pretty epic book slump.
Midnight Blue by L.J. Shen – I just did not love any of the characters in this one.
Company Ink by Kat Colburn – I did actually enjoy the first couple of chapters of this, but for some reason I kept putting this one down in favor of other books.
Groupie (Texas Mutiny #2) by M.E. Carter – This book was so cringey and gratuitous for me. I just couldn’t do it.
Royally Raised (Royally #3.5) by Emma Chase – I LOVE this couple in Royally Matched, but I found I was getting a bit disenchanted with them as I read this, so I just put it down.
Rival (Fall Away #2) by Penelope Douglas – I 100% could not get into this. I struggled through the first book because trusted friends really liked it, I kept hoping for it to get better and it never did. I couldn’t do it again.

Do you have an autumnal book to transition into the end of the year?
I’m a mood reader and right now I’m reading Dreams of Gods and Monsters by Laini Taylor. I swear I’ve been reading this series for years and it’s about time I finish it.

Is there a new release you’re still waiting for?
Finale by Stephanie Garber!

What are three books you want to read before the end of the year?

With the exceptionally slow pace that I’ve been reading lately, the chances are slim I will finish three by the end of the year, but these are the three I’m reading at the moment.

Is there a book you think could still shock you and become your favorite book of the year?

Have you already started making reading plans for 2019?
Yes! Here are my Reading Resolutions for 2019.
