Review
To be fair… I was in a pretty epic reading slump when reading this book.
First, I want to say that I am a huge fan of Laura Kaye’s Hearts in Darkness Duet. They are some of my all-time favorite books, so I was very excited to pick up another one of her books.
And, unfortunately, this one just didn’t do anything for me.
If I had to sum it up in one word it would be: forgettable.
One of the best things about Laura’s Hearts in Darkness books was the hero was so beautifully written. His character was such a believable and relatable character, not to mention the romance was epic, but so real.
This book just didn’t have that.
The hero in this novel was a little overdone… in that I felt like I’ve read this character many times before. The romance was nothing earth-shattering.
Keep in mind that I’ve read so freaking many romances novels that it very well could’ve jaded me.
3 star reviews are always a little difficult for me to write because the books very well could be favorites for others, but it just didn’t do much for me.

This was definitely not one of my favorites and I think it’s reflective of her earlier writing career. If you want something similar to the Hearts in Darkness series, you should check out her Warrior Fight Club series (it’s new and only has 2 books out). And of course the Hard Ink series is amazing if you haven’t read those yet. =]
