TeaChat is a monthly post that I do in which I pretend that you and I are going out and grabbing a cup of tea (or coffee or wine) and we’re chatting about what we’ve been up to lately.
Summer has started for the girls and I took a vacation to spend some time with them during their first week off. We mostly hung around the house, but I did take them out to the bookstore and then to lunch, just the three of us.
I found out recently that my 5yo daughter reads to my 3yo daughter at night before bed until she falls asleep after I put them to bed. I read to them every night, but it’s so sweet to know that my daughter reads to her sister every night. I often find her laying in bed with a pile of books, reading to herself in her room. I can’t describe how proud that makes me. She just learned to read last year and now she’s reading to her sister. ❤
Hmm… what else was I up to this month?
My niece graduated from high school, so we went to her graduation party, my husband and I had a beach day sans kids, I had a nice book club meeting where we talked about It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover, and I had a “Sibs Day” with my sister and brother. We just had lunch and coffee, then hung out at my brother’s house afterwards.
Anyway… onward to the usual TeaChat updates:
At Present I Am…
Not reviews. I’m so backed up on reviews, it’s shameful lol!
I have about a zillion shows I’ve been dying to watch, and what have I been watching obsessively? Grey’s Anatomy. For the 3rd time. Sigh.
They just opened a First Watch near me and I’ve been obsessed with their BLT Eggs Benedict. Instead of Canadian bacon, it has bacon, avocado, tomato, and arugula. It’s so delicious!
Years ago I discovered this song and became obsessed with Justin Young’s voice. I have no idea what made me think of it recently, but when I finally found it again, my obsession reignited.
I mean, I’m always obsessed with used bookstores, but every so often I have an urge to spend some time at one. Typically this happens when I’m incredibly stressed out, I just want to pop in some headphones and browse cheap books. Most of the time I end up buying more books for my kids and my niece than myself, but it doesn’t matter. It’s all worth it.
There aren’t many bookstores near me. In fact, there really is only one, it’s called The Little Red Schoolhouse and it’s my library’s bookstore. They change out the books all the time, so sometimes they have fantastic books, other times it’s a dud. Every so often I find a gem of a book. A few weeks ago I found a brand new hardcover of Caraval by Stephanie Garber for less than a dollar. A couple days ago I found a perfect condition hardcover of Simon Vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Abertalli for $0.25.
It’s my birthday month!
This weekend I’m celebrating my birthday with my family, my girls are in Summer Camp for a week, I have a book club meeting, and I’m hoping to throw in a few beach days.
