Books I Didn’t Finish (May 2018)

With so many books in my TBR pile, many of which I already own, I can be pretty picky.

If a novel doesn’t grab my attention by the first 50 or so pages, I set it aside and start a new book.

This doesn’t necessarily mean that at some point I won’t go back to it and try again. Sometimes it’s simply timing and my mood. I’m a total mood reader and since reading is strictly something I do for pleasure, I never force myself to read a book that doesn’t interest me.

This month, in particular, I was pretty moody. I kept starting and stopping books just because I couldn’t get into them. In this post I’ll be listing all the books that I moved to my DNF list.

Books I Did Not Finish in May

The Chemist by Stephenie Meyer

32940867

This book was added to my Audible Library months ago, and when I started my book club, this was the first pick. After reading the first several chapters, everyone in the book club decided we just were not interested in it and switched to a different book.

Will I try again? Nope.

XO, Zach by Kendall Ryan

36297992

Something about the instalove just didn’t work for me in this one. To be fair, I didn’t get further than a few chapters, but I just wasn’t in the mood to try to believe the attraction between these characters right off the bat. The premise seems pretty interesting, but it wasn’t what I expected.

Will I try again? Probably. Like I said, I was super moody this month.

Drunk Dial by Penelope Ward

356042041

I actually got pretty far in this book before giving up. I gave up for a few reasons: I wasn’t entirely invested in either of the characters or the romance blossoming between them, I had high hopes for this book that were hard to live up to, and A Court of Frost and Starlight and With Ties that Bind came out when I was in the middle of reading this one and they seemed more appealing to me at the time.

Will I try again? Very likely.

Did you DNF any books this month? Have you read any of these books?
