What Should I Read? 5 Books from my TBR (May 2018)

In preparation for my Monthly TBR list in the beginning of the month I like to post a list of books that are on my TBR and get YOUR opinion on what I should read.

I chose one book from each of the following categories:

  • A book on my Kindle
  • A book from my bookshelf
  • A book in my Audible library
  • A book from my Goodreads shelf
  • A book from my TBR ASAP shelf

So, let me know… What should I read next?

On my Kindle

Beauty Touched the Beast (Beauty #1) by Skye Warren

Erin cleans Mr. Morris’s house twice a week, soaking up every moment with the reclusive ex-soldier she secretly loves. Blake Morris knows he’s scarred both inside and out and is no good for the beautiful young woman who cleans his house to pay for college. But when Erin walks in on Blake touching himself and moaning her name, all bets are off.

The Silver Linings Playbook by Matthew Quick

Meet Pat. Pat has a theory: his life is a movie produced by God. And his God-given mission is to become physically fit and emotionally literate, whereupon God will ensure a happy ending for him—the return of his estranged wife, Nikki. (It might not come as a surprise to learn that Pat has spent time in a mental health facility.) The problem is, Pat’s now home, and everything feels off. No one will talk to him about Nikki; his beloved Philadelphia Eagles keep losing; he’s being pursued by the deeply odd Tiffany; his new therapist seems to recommend adultery as a form of therapy. Plus, he’s being hunted by Kenny G!

xo, Zach by Kendall Ryan

The first time we met was at a party.

Your ex arrived to show off the person he’d left you for last month, and you asked me to pretend to be your date.

I was more than happy to help. You were attractive, smart and witty–and that kiss we shared? It left me wanting you for days.

The second time we met was in my office on campus where we were both surprised to discover you were the new master’s degree student in poetry that I would be working with. You promised to be professional. I did no such thing.

The late nights and intense study sessions spent alongside you majorly throw me off my game. I want you, and I fight with myself daily over this fact.

I know I’m crass, that my sexual innuendos and dirty mouth annoy you, but I live for those two bright spots of color in your cheeks. If that’s the only reaction I can get out of you, I’ll gladly take it.

You hate Mondays so every Monday I slip an anonymous poem into your bag and your smile gets me through the week.

I think I’m falling for you, and I know it’s wrong. I know that I’m only supposed to be the adviser to your program and nothing more, but here’s the thing. I think you’re falling for me too.

xo, Zach

  1. I vote for The Silver Linings Playbook (I would suggest watching/rewatching the movie, it’s a lot more enjoyable when you can visualize JLaw and Bradley Cooper 😁😁 while reading)!
It was a fun and quick read 😅

  2. I’ve only read Beauty Touched the Beast and I honestly just thought it was ok. Out of the rest I’ve only heard of Silver linings playbook and I’m interested in that one so that’s the one I’m going to choose.

  3. Just fyi the average goodreads rating for Storm and Silence is highly inflated from thousands of 12ish year old girls on Wattpad…I used to read the story on Wattpad and I was kind of shocked that the author asked his followers to create multiple accounts each to vote for him in the Goodreads awards :/

    1. The movie’s been out for awhile and I keep telling myself that I need to read the book first before I watch it LOL! How was the movie?

  4. My vote would also go for Silver Linings Playbook. For some reason I read the whole thing on my old iPhone 4. That I wouldn’t recommend :). And the bonus is you can listen to the soundtrack while you read it.

    1. Oh boy, reading it on a phone had to be rough!

I never thought of listening to the soundtrack while reading, but that is a fantastic idea!
