Review
This is the first of Lauren Rowe’s books that wasn’t a win for me. It was bound to happen at some point, right? And, you know what? That’s ok.
To be completely honest, I feel like (and wish) that Jonas and Sarah’s story was told in one book. While I enjoyed the second book, I didn’t enjoy it as much as the first and the drama with The Club just wasn’t intriguing enough for me.
The things that I loved about the first book in this series fizzled out in the second book and were almost non-existent in this book.
I want to blame my lukewarm feelings on the whole heist thing not being my personal cup of tea, but Lauren Rowe herself has proved to me multiple times that things I think I don’t like, when done well, can prove me wrong.
Unlike most of her books that I’ve read, I felt detached from the character and the story during the entire read. I can’t blame it on timing because I read this book in between two really great books that completely captured and kept my attention. (One of them was another one of her books!)
Anyway, I still recommend this series, but if your tastes are similar to mine, you may want to pretend that the first book is the only book in the series.
I very likely won’t read book 4 because it STILL follows Jonas and Sarah (and while I liked their story, I’m over them). I might skip to Josh and Kat’s story, but I think I need a break from this series for awhile.
Audiobook Performance: 5 stars
Lauren Rowe and John Lane are a dream team!
Butterfly Rating: 1 Star
Butterflies are always strongest at the beginning of a relationship… or the building of one. Now that we’re three books in to Jonas and Sarah’s story, the butterflies have definitely faded from my fickle heart.
Re-read Worthiness: Nah
I don’t see myself reading this book, though I may re-read the first book in this series at some point!
Bookshelf Placement: Nah
Book Boyfriend Rating: 3 stars
It may just be my lukewarm feelings toward this book, but Jonas doesn’t appeal to me nearly as much as he did in the first book.
