TeaChat: Misogyny & Book Clubs (Unrelated)

For those of you who are new around here, TeaChats are a monthly post that I do in which I pretend that you and I are going out and grabbing a cup of tea (or coffee or wine) and we’re chatting about what we’ve been up to lately.

Let’s chat!

Whew! I struggled this week with the blog.

Typically, I write a week’s worth of posts over the weekend so that I can just read and comment on other blogs in the evenings before bed during the week, but with Easter, it threw off my routine.

Anyway, I’m back in the game this weekend, so hopefully I’ll be more present in the community this week.

March was a stressful month for me. Let’s just say that it’s nice to know that misogyny is alive and well and, apparently, acceptable in the workplace. /sarcasm

The highlight of March, however, was that my sisters, mom, my best friend, and I started a romance novel book club. It’s a great excuse to chat about books and book boyfriends we love and just to hang out with one another. I’m very close to my siblings and parents, so it may seem weird, but it’s actually not at all (for me, anyway).

Reading

36406978
Company Ink by Kat Colburn (ebook).
This is a reader’s copy that I recieved from the author and have been meaning to read for awhile. I got distracted by Trisha Wolfe’s books (devoured 6 of them in ebook format), but now I’m getting into this one! Finally.

Writing

I’ve actually been busy writing the next book in my Soulful series! I’m really excited about what I’ve written so far. I can’t wait to share this story when it’s done!

Here’s a little preview:

All around us there are little worlds, everyone in their own, living and breathing, hurting and happy, bored and overwhelmed.

Each world is spinning individually.

Except for mine.

Because when he walks into the room it’s like he has stepped on my axis and I am sailing into his atmosphere.

Watching

13 reasons why

For some reason, I decided to start watching 13 Reasons Why and I ended up binge watching the entire series thinking that the second season was already out.

It was not and I was mad because I hate watching series that I love and having to wait for seasons to release.

I’d much rather wait until the series ends and the entire thing is available on Netflix!

Consuming

I’m not a big breakfast person, but these Korean steamed eggs are delicious and pretty healthy! I’m all about that!

Listening to

Panic! at the Disco’s new songs!

My girls love Panic! at the Disco, so the three of us have been listening to the new songs on repeat!

Obsessing over

27216306

Trisha Wolfe.

Her writing is breathtaking, her stories are dark and intelligent and engrossing, and she’s also an awesome person.

She just released her first audiobooks and it happened to be for With Visions of Red. I preordered the audiobook, of course, even though I already read the ebook and happily devoured it for the second time already.

I can’t wait to buy all of her books!

What’s Next

I have an extremely exciting book club meeting coming up at the end of the month! I can’t wait to tell you guys all about it.

My anniversary is on the 13th. It is our 10th anniversary! It’s so hard to believe it’s been 10 years since that incredible day! Honestly, my wedding day was one of the most fun days of my life. I loved celebrating with all my close friends and family.

JT and I don’t have much planned, it’s difficult with two little girls, we’ll likely just go out to dinner and a movie (if we can agree on a movie! I want to see Midnight Sun!)

Tell me… what have you been up to lately? What’s up next?

  1. Happy Anniversary ❤️. Easter kind of threw us all off, haha. I think it’s amazing you guys are starting a book club. It’s so much fun discussing books together. It makes reading a bit more interesting. Even though it already is. I didn’t know you were an author, those lines sound really interesting.
