Thank you to the wonderful Karen Jo over at Sincerely, Karen Jo (one of my favorite book blogs!) for tagging me in this!
Just like hers, she tagged me in this a while ago and I’m just now posting it… but, like she said, better late than never, amirite?
You must be honest
You must answer all of the questions
You must tag at least 4 people
WHAT BOOK HAS BEEN ON YOUR SHELF THE LONGEST?
I’m going to go with All by Myself by Mercer Mayer. It’s a children’s book that I had when I was a kid and now it belongs to my girls!
WHAT IS YOUR CURRENT READ, YOUR LAST READ, AND THE BOOK YOU’LL READ NEXT?
I am currently reading With Visions of Red (With Visions of Red: Broken Bonds #1) by Trisha Wolfe. I recently finisher her Madly, Darkly duology and loved them. This book is a spin-off from those books.
I finished Foolish Hearts by Emma Mills last night. I’m still swooning!
After With Visions of Red, I think I’ll listen to Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli. I just got this one with my monthly Audible credit.
WHAT BOOK DID EVERYONE LIKE, BUT YOU HATED?
I’m not a big book hater unless it is really problematic, but I tend to avoid them like the plague. If I think I won’t like a book, I won’t read it. I will edit the question and change the HATED to DISLIKED and I’ll go with 50 Shades of Grey. That being said, I loved the movies. 😛
WHAT BOOK DO YOU KEEP TELLING YOURSELF YOU’LL READ, BUT YOU PROBABLY WON’T?
There are a lot of classics that I keep telling myself that I need to read, but then I look at my bookshelves and realize that probably isn’t going to happen anytime soon.
WHAT BOOK ARE YOU SAVING FOR YOUR RETIREMENT?
I am far too impulsive to save books for retirement. If I want to read something RIGHT NOW and I have the book in my possession or the ability to obtain it, please believe I’ll read it. I’ve never been good at impulse control.
LAST PAGE – READ IT FIRST OR WAIT TIL’ THE END?
WHO ACTUALLY DOES THIS???!!! AND WHY?!?! Half the time I rarely read the synopsis on the back before reading the book. I like going in blind!
That being said, I will read a synopsis to decide if I want to read the book, then add it to my TBR shelf on Goodreads or purchase it… most of the time it takes me months to read a book after doing those things and when I go to read it, I trust that I picked up the book because I, at one point, thought I’d enjoy it so I just dive right in.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: WASTE OF PAPER AND INK, OR INTERESTING ASIDE?
I don’t always read the acknowledgments, but I think they are absolutely necessary. There is a lot that goes into writing a book and a lot of support that the writer receives. I think that thanking people for their part in a lasting way like this is just good manners.
WHICH BOOK CHARACTER WOULD YOU SWITCH PLACES WITH?
My first instinct is to say Feyre simply because, well, Rhys… but hot damn, she went through HELL and I would not be able to handle that crap. Can I conditionalize this by saying Feyre AFTER all the pain and torture? I’d love to live in Velaris with that crew!
DO YOU HAVE A BOOK THAT REMINDS YOU OF SOMETHING SPECIFIC IN YOUR LIFE? (PLACE, TIME, PERSON?)
Alpha by Rachel Vincent will always remind me of when my sister, mom, and I all stayed in a super fancy hotel in Orlando for an Ours concert and my sister and I went into the bathroom to take turns reading the first chapter reveal before it came out so that my mom couldn’t hear (she hadn’t read the rest of the series yet). My sister and I were giggling and squealing and screaming throughout the read.
NAME A BOOK THAT YOU ACQUIRED IN AN INTERESTING WAY
I have a copy of House of Leaves by by Mark Z. Danielewski that I got from my favorite author’s sister’s husband’s gorgeous library/office. (He’s also the lead singer of a band!) As in, I was standing in the office with her, her sister, and her sister’s husband and he gave it to me.
HAVE YOU EVER GIVEN A BOOK AWAY FOR A SPECIAL REASON TO A SPECIAL PERSON?
I once turned a dream that my sister had into a short story, printed it, bound it, and gave it to her for her birthday… however this was back when Twilight was first turned into a movie and my sisters and I hated that Robert Pattinson was cast as Edward, so, of course, I made the cover say, “My Robert Pattinson Journal.” When she opened the gift, she threw the book across the room in a fit of rage and I had to explain that the cover was a joke and it was actually the book I wrote LOL!
WHICH BOOK HAS BEEN WITH YOU MOST PLACES?
If I said, “my Kindle,” would that be cheating?
ANY “REQUIRED READING” YOU HATED IN HIGH SCHOOL THAT WASN’T SO BAD TWO YEARS LATER?
Hmmm… not that I can think of. I didn’t love a lot of the required reading in school except for The Great Gatsby. I loved that book when I was in school and I love it now.
USED OR BRAND NEW?
I’m all about saving money, but… man… nothing beats the smell of a new book.
HAVE YOU EVER READ A DAN BROWN BOOK?
HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A MOVIE THAT YOU LIKED MORE THAN THE BOOK?
YES! 50 Shades and Grey and 50 Shades Darker were so freaking good. It was amazing that they could take a novel so poorly written and turn it into a gorgeous movie. The cinematography, the score, the soundtrack… so good.
HAVE YOU EVER READ A BOOK THAT’S MADE YOU HUNGRY, COOKBOOKS INCLUDED?
YES! I am heavily influenced by books and movies in that way lol! I can’t remember the book, but when I was pregnant with my second daughter, I remember listening to an audiobook and they were talking about pizza and I immediately ordered one.
WHO IS THE PERSON WHOSE BOOK ADVICE YOU’LL ALWAYS TAKE?
My oldest sister. She and I have the most similar taste in books.
IS THERE A BOOK OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE (OUTSIDE OF YOUR USUAL READING GENRE) THAT YOU ENDED UP LOVING?
Heartsick by Chelsea Cain is not my usual jam, but I loved that book.
