Goodness, gracious. Anyone else feel like everyone around them is dropping like flies from this flu craziness?! My entire family has been sick on and off since November… every single one of us was hit with the flu at least once. It’s been such a nightmare.
Anyway, sorry to start off with such a downer LOL!
For those of you who are new around here, TeaChat is a monthly post that I do in which I pretend that you and I are going out and grabbing a cup of tea (or coffee… or wine) and we’re chatting about what we’ve been up to lately.
So… let’s chat!
At Present I Am…
A Bargain in Silver (Solis Invicti: Book 1) by Josie Jaffrey
This was a reader’s copy in exchange for an honest review… the first one I’ve done in awhile and I’m enjoying it so far. It’s definitely got some TrueBlood vibes happening for me. Pretty intense!
I started reading Passenger by Alexandra Bracken, but put it on hold when I received the copy of A Bargain in Silver.
I’m back at it with writing the next book in my Soulful series! Ok, granted, I haven’t written very much, but at least I’m writing again, right? RIGHT?!
All the YouTube videos in the world. I can’t stop. It’s even taken over my reading when I actually have free time a few times.
I’ve been making this yummalicious salad recently. I call it The Fiesta Salad because it sounds cool and I’m a dork. I also measure nothing, but here is a rough recipe for ya:
Greens of choice (I like a nice Spring Mix)
1 can of black beans
1 can of corn
Juice of 1 lime
¼ cup diced red onion
½ bunch of cilantro
Shredded taco blend cheese
½ container of sliced grape tomatoes
1 diced avocado
Ranch dressing & lime flavored tortilla chips for serving
Combine everything but the lettuce, dressing, chips, and cheese. You can add a little salt and pepper here if you desire. You’re essentially making a little salsa!
Serve the lettuce and top with the salsa you made along with a sprinkle of lime tortilla chips, cheese, and a tiny drizzle of ranch.
You can add shredded chicken to this for a heartier meal, but honestly, this is very filling with the beans and corn. I like to make this ahead and bring it for lunch during the week. I store the “salsa” separate from the toppings and lettuce, then combine them at work!
Listening to and Obsessing over
ALL THINGS THE GREATEST SHOWMAN
You guys, I was vibrating with excitement and awe from the very first scene until the very last scene when I saw this movie. I was on the verge of tears throughout — not because it was sad, but because I was so moved by the magnificence and the magic of it all.
And the music. Oh, my dear sweet Lord, the MUSIC was everything. I remember thinking the whole time, “WHAT GLORIOUS HUMANS WROTE THESE SONGS?!” Come to find out during the credits, it’s none other than the writers of Dear Evan Hansen, Pasek and Paul.
My 5-year-old daughter was awestruck, too, and we’ve both been obsessively watching all the music videos and listening to the soundtrack on repeat. Even my 3-year-old loves watching the videos!
My husband and I took off of work for Valentine’s Day and the days following before the weekend so that we could enjoy some time together while the girls are at school for a couple days, but not miss out on time with them when school is over. I’m looking forward to hanging out with him during that time! We rarely get to just hang out anymore by ourselves since we became parents.
My sister’s birthday is coming up and we’re going to go see 50 Shades Freed, which is always fantastic. We tend to be a little ridiculous when we get together… for example, the last time we saw 50 Shades for her birthday, we publicly reenacted the movie poster.
Or she makes me wear silly glasses when we go to concerts.
Other than that, it’s the same old, same old.
