Top 5 Reading Resolutions for 2018

Though I haven’t participated in Top 5 Wednesday in awhile, when I saw this Reading Resolutions post on Thrice Read recently, I thought it was such a great idea that I’d make a post with my Top 5 Reading Resolutions, too!

Top 5 Reading Resolutions

No particular order

#1 Read more hard copy and ebooks

If you’ve been following my blog for awhile, you know that I mostly listen to audiobooks. This is because I have very little down time in my daily life to sit down and read a book. When I listen to an audiobook I can be doing other things like working out, cleaning, working, driving, etc. I also have a long commute to work every day, and audiobooks keep me company.

Anyway, I have no problem with reading mostly audiobooks other than the fact that I have so many hard copies of books and a ton of ebooks on my Kindle. Therefore, I need to make more time to actually sit down and read them.

Things would be so much easier if I didn’t have to sleep. Such a waste of precious time, I tell you.

#2 Catch up with and continue to write my reviews in a timely fashion

Yeah, so, I fell waaaaay behind in writing my reviews that past couple of months and I am still playing catch up. My goal is to get completely caught up and write them right after I finish reading the books. Luckily, I’m pretty good about remembering my thoughts about books that I’ve read and I tend to take notes as I read, so it hasn’t been too big of a deal, but it’s always easiest to write a review when the story is fresh!

#3 Read more books outside of my favorite genre

Just because this blog is all romance all the time, doesn’t mean that’s all I have to read. Don’t get me wrong, 98% of the time it’s all I want to read, which is why I created this blog, however there have definitely been some books outside of the romance genre that have caught my attention. Also, I definitely need to do more professional development and mental health reading. And it doesn’t hurt to broaden one’s horizons. 🙂

#4 Read at least 150 books this year

My Goodreads Goal was, I think, originally set to 125, but I decided just to jump in and go for 150. Shoot for the stars and all that.

#5 Read the books that my friends let me borrow

One of my good friends from work is always lending me books that she has read and I’m terrible about actually reading them. I think I have like 4 of her books sitting on my shelf right now. Oops.

So that wraps up my top 5 reading resolutions! Guaranteed that approximately three days from now I’ll think of more and wish I would’ve listed them here. Such is life.

Your turn!
