This book blindsided me with how good it was … and how different it was from the previous books.

While Pucked Off still had some of the humor, it was much darker than all of the previous novels. I was absolutely not expecting that considering who the main male character was in this book. Lance is the ultimate playboy and I think I expected him to be more irreverent and conceited, but Helena Hunting threw a total curveball with this book. It started off intense and I felt the echoes of it throughout the entire book.

Ultimately, like all the other books in this series, I adored our two main characters. In fact, if you can’t already tell, they were my absolute favorite of them all.

Also, seeing Violet and the gang from a different character’s point of view was really interesting and funny. All the other female characters in the books had connections to her and were somewhat used to her crazy, but Poppy has never met Violet and when she does, especially given Poppy’s personality… let’s just say she’s a little overwhelmed!

Anyway, this book was an emotional rollercoaster for me, and a very well done one at that. Helena Hunting definitely proved to me that she isn’t just amazing at romantic comedy, she can bring the drama and heartache, too!

 

Audiobook Performance: 5 Stars

Jacob. Morgan. Doing. A. Scottish. Accent. That’s all I have to say. And yelling. I just… I can’t you guys. I freaking can’t. Dude could read a phone book and I’d swoon, nevermind LANCE’S character in a SCOTTISH FREAKING ACCENT. GTFO.

Ok, no it isn’t because I also have to tell you how much I swooned over Rose Diorio so hard. Her voice was so perfect for Poppy and just perfect in general. Excuse me while I go stalk her and her audiobooks hardcore. #girlcrush

 

Butterfly Rating: 5 Stars

FIVE MILLION STARS. THIS ENTIRE BOOK AND ALL THE STAR RATINGS ARE 5 MILLION. I had so many swirly butterflies during this, it was almost unbearable.

I’ve re-read it about 4 times already. Don’t judge.
