I thought I’d do something a little different this month and include a Things I Love post. I always love these types of posts because I like to see what my favorite bloggers are obsessing over that may not necessarily be what they usually talk about.
Anyway, here is a list of things I’m loving lately, bookish and otherwise:
The Wall of Winnipeg and Me sweatshirt
Mariana Zapata recently opened up a Threadless shop and I IMMEDIATELY bought a The Wall of Winnipeg and Me sweatshirt. I’ve worn this thing, like, 10 times and I just got it a couple weeks ago. (Don’t judge.) The sweatshirt specifically is nice and lightweight and fits comfortably. (I sized up a couple of sizes because I like my sweatshirts to be big enough to wear with leggings.)
Liber deStella candles
I’ve been a hardcore fan of this Etsy shop ever since I discovered Sara McCormick’s book-inspired candles. The Rhys candle specifically brought me to my knees when I first smelled it. Anyone who read A Court of Mist and Fury knows exactly how SJM describes Rhys’ smell and I swear to God, Sara ( the girl who owns this Etsy shop) is a freaking magician. I could almost imagine flying with Rhys over Velaris and getting whiffs of this exact scent. I very nearly bought the perfume version of this and made my husband wear it.
When I say I’m obsessed, I mean it. I have about 20 of her candles in my drawer right now and I’m scared to light them for fear of running out and her never making them again. I also have the entire ACOTAR package of candles and the Rowan candle from Throne of Glass.
The Pucked Series
I’ve forced my sister to read this series since I’ve finished reading every book, every outtake, EVERYTHING I could find that had to do with this series. I legit started jumping up and down in excitement when I found out there was going to be another book in this series.
I recently posted my reviews for Captain and Ball Peen Hammer, which were both rave reviews, but I’ve also been reading The Club series and loving it. I get so excited when I find a new author that I adore. I have to consciously stop myself from reading every single book they wrote in a row so that I don’t get sick of them!
Victoria’s Secret Velvet Matte Lip Cream Stain in Perfection
Books and makeup are two of my biggest obsessions. I know. Random combo, but I’m a gemini, what can I say? Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that Victorias’ Secret Velvet Matte Lip Cream Stain was so good. I hate drying matte lipsticks, but this one is so velvety and soft and it stays on for a long time. The color “Perfection” lives up to its name in every way. It’s the perfect nude with hints of pink and brown.
Women’s Mad Love Lennie Sneakers
I was on the hunt for casual sneakers when I discovered these at Target. They are so freaking comfortable and adorable that I bought them in black and white! If they had more colors, I’d probably get them, too. There is something about the elasticity and padding that makes them comfortable, but the style is adorable, too!
Rimmel Kate Lip Conditioning Balm in Clear
I got this lip balm in an Ipsy bag a few months ago and I’m starting to have a panic attack that I won’t be able to find it again. (Update: I found it on Amazon, whew!) I’m not a huge lip balm person, at least I didn’t think I was. I could take it or leave it, usually since I only really use it at night before bed, but when I discovered this, there was something about it that I loved. It feels so comfortable, so it is perfect for nighttime application!
Dionis Goat Milk Skincare in White Jasmine and Shea and Love
If I could choose one thing out of this entire list to pick as my favorite, it would be this lotion. I put lotion on my skin every night before bed and I had such a hard time finding one that I wanted to stick with until I got this as a free sample with an Ulta shipment. If I could buy this stuff in a vat I would. It is extremely hydrating, but very lightweight and not greasy at all. And the scent of the White Jasmine and Shea brings back all the butterflies I felt while reading and watching Outlander for the first time (I call it my Jamie lotion) because I started using it when I first started reading that series. I recently picked up the scent Love as well, and it was just as magical (I keep that one at work.)
Yuwiss Sport Bluetooth Headphones Wireless Neckband Headset
Finding the perfect pair of bluetooth headphones that I could both comfortably lay in bed with and listen to audiobooks as well as jog on a treadmill and workout at the gym with has not been easy. The headphones without a neckband always dropped out of my ear with the weight of the battery pack and the headphones with a neckband never fit in my apparently oddly shaped ear holes. The only headphones that ever stay in my ears are the Apple brand headphones and there was no way I was spending a gazillion dollars on Airpods when I would immediate lose them. Anyway, I finally discovered these babies for $25 on Amazon, they have a neckband and are shaped like the Apple headphones! Perfection!
Theorie Pure Professional Layering Hairspray
I’ve been on the hunt for The Perfect hairspray to use in my hair when I have voluminous waves and I don’t want them to be crunchy at all, but I also want them to stay in my hair. I have super fine, silky hair, so curls and waves rarely hold unless I put a ton of product in it, but doing that takes away the softness. Well, after using just about every drugstore brand hairspray I could find, I finally found this at Marshalls of all places. Not only does it smell beautiful (like a salon), it is super lightweight, but my waves and curls stay in place. I can still run my hand through my hair with it. I also live in fear that I won’t be able to find it, so anytime I see it in Marshalls, I buy every bottle!
Invisibobble Traceless Hair Ring
I am so obsessed with these hair ties, I can’t even tell you. I hate, hate, hate when I have my hair up and it hurts. I have super long hair and while I wear it down when I’m at work or going out, I like it out of my face when I’m at home. Regular hair ties always feel like they are pulling at my hair and monster clips are stabby, but these? They have a strong hold without pain. This just happens to be the brand that I have, but I’ve used other brands as well and they’re all fantastic.
OontZ Angle 3 Portable Bluetooth Speaker
This is the absolute perfect portable bluetooth speaker. The sound is shockingly good for a $25 speaker. It’s also splashproof which makes it perfect for setting on the side of the tub when I take a shower or taking to the beach. I also like to play music while I’m cleaning or cooking, and I can just pick this up and bring this into whatever room I’m in!
