The Sexy One (One Love #1) by Lauren Blakely

[Audiobook Purchased from Audible]

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000026_00022]

Let me count the ways why falling into forbidden love is not my wisest move…
1. She works with me every single day.
Did I mention she’s gorgeous, sweet, kind and smart?
2. She works in my home.
Playing with my five-year-old daughter. Teaching my little girl. Cooking for my princess. Which means…
3. She’s the nanny.
And that makes her completely off-limits… But it doesn’t stop me from wanting her. All of her.

The other nannies in this city don’t call him the Sexy One for nothing. My boss, the amazingly wonderful single father to the girl I take care of every day is ridiculously hot, like movie star levels with those arms, and those eyes, and that body. Not to mention, the way he dotes on his little girl melts me all over. But what really makes my knees weak are the times when his gaze lingers on me. In secret. When no one else is around.

I can’t risk my job for a chance at something more… can I? But I don’t know how to resist him much longer either…

Synopsis from Goodreads.

I almost loved this book. Almost. The only thing that took this from a 4 or 5 star rating for me was the instalove. Now, sometimes instalove doesn’t bother me. I’ve read several books in which it totally works out (the first two that come to mind are Captain and Ball Peen Hammer by Lauren Rowe), however, in this case. I really wanted that slow burn and was greatly disappointed when it didn’t happen.

For me, the forbidden aspect of an employer falling in love with his employee was the most appealing thing about this story.

It started off really well. I like when the love interest harbors secret feelings for the main character, but hides it really well. And, initially, this seemed like it would be the case, but I just wish it went on for a little bit longer. I liked the idea of him being untouchable for just a little bit longer.

I certainly plan on reading more Lauren Blakely novels in the future! There were a lot of sweet and swoony parts in this book and I really liked the writing.

Audiobook Performance: 5 Stars

Andi Arndt and Sebastian York are a total dream team. They nail it every time for me!

This book is part of the Audible Romance Package!

Butterfly Rating: 4 Stars

There were several points in which the butterflies were swarming in this one!

Re-read Worthiness: No

Bookshelf Placement: No

Unless I fall in love with the rest of Lauren Blakely’s books (which is entirely possible) and find that I need a copy of all of her books, I doubt this will earn a spot on my bookshelf.

Book Boyfriend Rating: 4 stars

Simon is a successful, sweet guy who also happens to be an incredible father, lover, and boyfriend. Heck yes!
