Priest by Sierra Simone
[Audiobook Purchased from Audible]
There are many rules a priest can’t break.
A priest cannot marry. A priest cannot abandon his flock. A priest cannot forsake his God.I’ve always been good at following rules.
Until she came.
My name is Tyler Anselm Bell. I’m twenty-nine years old. Six months ago, I broke my vow of celibacy on the altar of my own church, and God help me, I would do it again.
I am a priest and this is my confession.
Review
This book could have gone so wrong in so many ways, but instead it was so right and I have no idea how the author pulled it off. Scenes that could’ve been seriously eye-roll worthy had me swooning instead. Quotes that should’ve had me shaking my head in disgust instead had my jaw dropping in awe. And that has everything to do with Sierra Simone and her incredible writing, character building, and storytelling.
Before reading the book, I expected either a really raunchy, out-of-control book with gratuitous steamy scenes or something really cheesy. What I hoped was that the book would be a slow burning story about forbidden love. What I ended up with was something in between. This book somehow managed to be a slow-burn, yet insta-attraction all in one. It left you longing for more, yet satisfied.
Along with marveling at the author’s writing style, I am almost more impressed with her knowledge and detail about Catholicism… and her ability to use terminology and practices in a very… er… creative way.
I highly recommend this book… to those who aren’t immediately offended by a romance about a priest. Because if just the thought of this book offends you, the content will certainly push you over the edge.
Audiobook Performance: 5 Stars
Can I give a bajillion stars? Because dear lord Jacob Morgan, your voice is magic. I don’t just highly recommend that readers listen to this audiobook, I almost insist on it simply because I feel like the sound of Jacob’s voice was just as thrilling as the content.
Butterfly Rating: 5 Stars
All the butterflies. All of them. I don’t know how the butterflies could float through all the steam, but they managed.
Re-read Worthiness: Heck yes
Actually, I’ve already re-listened to some of my favorite parts.
Bookshelf Placement: Yes
Absolutely. It’ll definitely be a conversation starter, that’s for sure. Especially with the subtitle “Priest: A Love Story”

Hot Priest, please be my book boyfriend!
