Book Haul 08.07.17 [Library Bookstore, eBooks, & Audiobooks]

book-haul

Ok, I am seriously trying not to load my Kindle up with so many free ebooks, and if you’ve seen my past hauls, you’ll notice this week’s haul is significantly less than others. At least, as far as ebooks go.

I immediately made up for that by perusing my local library’s bookstore and picking up a ton of books. In my defense, I also donated a big reusable bag full of books that I knew I wasn’t ever going to get around to reading. My hard copy TBR shelf is overflowing once again, though.

If a room without books is a room without a soul, then my house has so many souls it’s basically a cemetery.

That came out way more morbid than I intended.

Anyway, onward to last week’s haul!

Free Kindle eBooks

free kindle ebooks

My reason for picking up free Kindle books is usually the same every time. I get an email from Bookbub or other deal alert and if it is free and looks vaguely interesting I immediately grab it before the price goes up.

Purchased Kindle eBooks

Chasing Serenity (Seeking Serenity Book 1) by Eden Butler
Kimberly Faye Reads recently posted a rave review of this novel and mentioned that it was only 99¢! Obviously, I had to get it!
Amazon | Goodreads

Blackbird Summer by Em Shotwell
After reading the prequel to this book and chatting a bit with the author on Twitter, I knew I needed to read this book!

Audible Audiobooks

Audible-books

I had 6 credits to use, so I picked up 6 books on my To Be Read ASAP list plus Trust, which was only $8!

Attachments and Carry On by Rainbow Rowell
I mean, it’s Rainbow Rowell. Of course, I need to read these. Rainbow is an insta-read author of mine. I just finished Attachments, check out the review here.
Amazon | Goodreads

HIM by Sarina Bowen, Elle Kennedy
So many people have recommended this book to me. I’m currently reading (and loving) it. Stay tuned for my review!
Amazon | Goodreads

Hate to Want You by Alisha Rai
This has been all over my Goodreads feed lately! My sister recently listened to this and told me that the reader is really good in this audiobook!
Amazon | Goodreads

The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee
Another “everyone is loving this” book. I tend to be the type of person who loves all the hyped books, so I fully expect to love this one. I’ll be doing my very first Buddy Read with Amanda over at A Court of Books and Love with this book!
Amazon | Goodreads

Beast by A. Zavarelli
I’m a bit obsessed with Beauty and the Beast. When a friend of mine rated it highly on Goodreads, I knew I needed to read it ASAP, so I did! You can read my review here.
Amazon | Goodreads

Trust by Kylie Scott
Another hyped novel! This one was only $7 which is basically unheard of for an audiobook (usually audiobooks run about $25+, that’s why I have the Audible membership). I needed this in my life. Also, this cover is glorious. Read my review here.

Library Book Store Haul

library-sale

I donated a big bag of books, only to come home with two bags. I only spent $12, though! And I’m supporting the library. Win/win!

From my TBR List

tbr list

These are books I happened to find at the library bookstore that were actually already on my Goodreads To Be Read List. I have no idea why that makes me so excited, but it does.

A Hopeless Romantic by Harriet Evans

Stars of Fortune by Nora Roberts

Rules of Attraction and Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles

Books I Love for Display

prev read

I’ve read both of these books and fell in love enough to want them on display.

A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness
This was an audiobook I read and I’ve wanted a hard copy for awhile now. Now I just need the other two books for display!
Amazon | Goodreads

My Name is Memory by Ann Brashares
I made the mistake of letting my thief of a sister borrow this book. She has a tendency to steal books from me, and she ended up keeping my copy. I actually like this hardcover version better, anyway!

New to Me Books

book sale

These are books that caught my attention as I was browsing.

The Promise of Stardust by Priscille Sibley
To be honest, I’m not sure if I’ll read this one. It sounds so freaking sad, but I love the cover, the title and the story sounds very interesting, but… it may be a little too intense for me!
Amazon | Goodreads

The Unwritten Rule by Elizabeth Scott
This caught my attention because of the cover. It’s nothing spectacular, like The Promise of Stardust, but it’s cute and just looks like a book I’d like.
Amazon | Goodreads

Of Love and Life by Sarah-Kate Lynch, Katie Fforde, and Sarah Duncan
To be honest, this was a second-thought purchase. The bookstore had a “Fill a Bag for $5” deal and I needed more books. As it was, I could’ve added several more to my bag!
Amazon | Goodreads

Ruined by Simone Elkeles
This was too good of a deal to pass up. Three books in one! They sound interesting, too.
Amazon | Goodreads

Love Letters by Katie Fforde
Gonna be honest, it’s the cover that sold me on this one.
Amazon | Goodreads

An Italian Affair by Laura Fraser
The synopsis of this one sounds dreamy. I’ve really been interested in romance novels that take place in other countries, especially when those countries are a main component.
Amazon | Goodreads

Just One of the Guys by Kristan Higgins
I’ve never read a book by this author, but I’ve been meaning to. This book sounded cute.
Amazon | Goodreads

Books that Have Been Made into Movies/TV Shows

movie-books

Love, Rosie by Cecelia Ahern
I actually have already watched this movie and I freaking love it. Can’t wait to read the book to see what changed!
Amazon | Goodreads

Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher
My best friend has been on my case about watching the Netflix series based on this book and though I’ve been resisting (it sounds way too depressing), I figured I’d give the book a try first and go from there.
Amazon | Goodreads

The Duff by Kody Keplinger
I actually just recently watched this movie and it had all sorts of Mean Girls vibes (I loved Mean Girls), I decided I really wanted to read the book after I saw the movie. I was excited when I saw this one for $0.25!

      1. Yep! I actually looked around at my Kindle library yesterday and was surprised there are so many good books. I tend to want to review books with little to no ratings, so I had to go through a bunch. It’s easier to just find sites that list books with authors hoping for reviews, because they tend to be the indie ones, rather than go through my whole kindle library, haha.

          1. I use Reading Deals. You get a book in exchange for an honest review. But honestly, I use reddit a ton. So many new authors post their book on there. Usually linked to amazon, free for a day or two. I love reviewing for those kind of authors. It’s like finding hidden gems.

  1. Oh my gosh, what an amazing list of books you’ve gotten. These posts always make me so jealous. I need to go to more used book sales! Also, oh my gosh, I saw you reviewed Him and I can’t wait to read it! I love that book soooo much!

And this, “If a room without books is a room without a soul, then my house has so many souls it’s basically a cemetery.” Best quote ever. Someone should make that a Goodreads quote!

    1. LMAO! In retrospect I should’ve said “it’s basically heaven.” That would’ve been more uplifting lol!

The library near my parents’ house has two huge sales a year and I’m always finding great books at those. There was one year I went with my two sisters (who are also big readers) and they literally had to give us one of those carts that has 3 shelves for us to haul out all of our books. They took a picture of us for their website lol!

Also: I’m still giddy about Him ❤ ❤

      1. LOL! It would have been more uplifting but I’m not sure it would have been as funny!

I went to our library sale once and was so disappointed. They didn’t have anything I wanted. It was all older books, meaning like from a few decades ago. It was a bummer.

Him is so amazing. I’ve read it twice and listened once. It’s so good.
